Blimey, and I was living through my first Toronto 'warm spell' 36 degs C with humidity up around 50% and some big thunder storms. Now in Vancouver, where it is of course, raining :-)

Glad your family, and your parents, all emerged unscathed !

Lucky for me, my parents live less than an hour away. I packed the family up and reveled in their AC. Sounds like you guys are in good shape, aside from the power issue. Good to hear.

Wow!
We've spent a good deal of time sitting in the dark too over the last few days - it sure was scary!

Glad to see that there was no (major) damage! :)

Wow! That is absolutely horrible. I live in Boston now, but grew up in Vienna, VA and went to high school right around the corner from the West Falls Church station (Marshall High School).

I was actually in DC on wednesday working on site for my largest client (large Federal Agency). We were with a group of senior Adobe Developers building a Proof of Concept with the BETA LiveCycle ES Server and components (building processes in LiveCycle, exposing them as web services and tying into Documentum BPM). The entire day was spent in an interior lab with no windows. We had pizza delivered at lunch time. I did not emerge from the building until some time after 8 pm that night.

My business partner and I went to dinner and everyone kept asking where we were during "the storm". I had no idea. My partner lives out near Annapolis, MD and I stay with him when I am in DC. Driving out there on wednesday night was an experience. Trees down and fields/roads flooded. Thursday morning's commute into DC was a nightmare.

I am thankful I live in Boston. As the snow melts and Spring is right around the corner here....
