MS, that works until FAST goes down. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, you want to be able to get to the document.

I've done the everything in one folder. I've hidden it. I've even removed the ability to browse to it. It always hits a snag at sometime.

As Johnny suggested. When things are extremely similar, sort by date. I have one client that has a new folder every day to handle their volume. They rely on search, but every now and then, they have to dive in.

Put all files in one cabinet. Make sure you make the cabinet hidden. End users use advance search to retrieve documents.
That should mitigate fat fingering, simian users..etc.

Great advice -

For fun someday - write a script that creates 4 or 5 objects and versions them 5K to 10K times each. Then try to navigate to that folder in WDK anything - hilarity ensues. To be mean - lock a non-current version and get a newbie to figure it out. Sometimes its not just the taxonomy - you need to clean up after yourself. :)

BTW - "Because I said so" was the working title for my original post - great minds think alike - I changed it because that line never seems to work on my kids and I get even less respect on the internet. I am however much thinner online.
